Welcome to the Engineers Week Page!

I am so happy that you would like to learn more about this awesome week celebrating the engineer!

I am the Engineers Week Chair for 2020, and I am elated to empower students that are passionate about STEM to pursue their dreams! I would have loved to participate in a week like this as a student, so it gives me great joy to be able to provide Engineers Week events for other students and future engineers!

I hope you enjoy the site, and we cannot wait to hear how you would like to support Engineers Week!

About Engineers Week

The American Society of Civil Engineers Los Angeles Younger Member Forum (ASCE LA YMF), with the support of the Offices of Councilmembers Paul Koretz, (Council District 5), David Ryu (Council District 4), Monica Rodriguez (Council District 6) Herb Wesson (Council District 10), Marqueece Harris-Dawson (Council District 8), and Paul Krekorian (Council District 2), hosted our 6th Annual Engineers Week Celebration held during National Engineers Week from February 19 – 23, 2019! We are very excited to host next year's 2020 Engineers Week!

This unique event features five days in the Los Angeles area dedicated to introducing students of all levels to local branches of government and various fields of engineering. Our goal is to educate students about how their own communities were built upon and created, and inspire them with future possibilities of helping to positively change their built environment! This February 2019, we hosted nearly 700 students for Engineers Week!

See more information and links below for how to get involved and/or support Engineers Week!

" leadears building a better quality of life."

ASCE LA YMF strives to inspire a diverse group of students to become leaders in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) in order to build a better future!

Engineers Week creates a platform of fun, engaging activities and interesting engineering presentation topics that are able to spark the confidence and imagination of K-12 grade students. STEM is more than books, it's doing! Seeing what you're able to accomplish through design, research, and hard work in order to make a difference in society for the better! No success is ever complete without a failure, and students are able to work through problems in order to better learn how to achieve their solutions! During Engineers Week, there are NO losers, because you can't lose at having fun!

Engineers Week 2020 needs your support!

Engineers Week is focused on inspiring future generations of engineers and providing opportunities for K-12 students to learn about science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) in an engaging, and most importantly, fun environment through presentations given by professional engineers, hands-on engineering activities, volunteers that are in STEM related fields to serve as guides and mentors for the students during the events, and inspirational venues within the City of Los Angeles. By providing memorable events such as this, we can more easily gain the interest of a diverse group of students and inspire them to pursue STEM careers!

Engineers Week Consists of:

Elementary School Day (3rd grade) will be held on Tuesday, 2/18/20 at the LA City Hall

Middle School Day (7th-8th grade) on Wednesday, 2/19/20 at the La Kretz Innovation Campus

Girl Day (7th-12th grade) on Thursday, 2/20/2020 at CalTrans Distric 7
High School Day (9th-12th grade) on Friday, 2/21/2020 at USC Campus

Girl Scouts Day (K-3rd grade) on Saturday 2/22/2020 at UCLA Campus

ASCE LA YMF strives to make this a week students will fondly remember and look forward to each year!

From volunteers to funding, we look forward to both public and private companies joining us to promote the importance of government and STEM to students in the local Los Angeles area. This fundraising effort will provide scholarships, materials for hand-on activities and transportation for students, and lunches and Engineers Week t-shirts for students and volunteers.
