ENGINEERS WEEK

Welcome to the Engineers Week Page!

I am so happy that you would like to learn more about this awesome week celebrating engineers!

I am the Engineers Week Chair for 2022 and I am excited to inspire students that are curious about STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) and to explore the world of engineering! I believe that passion is built and nurtured through interactive learning. So I put together a great team of engineers who are excited to share what it means to be an engineer with you all!

I hope you enjoy the site, and we cannot wait to hear how you would like to support and/or participate in Engineers Week!

About Engineers Week

The American Society of Civil Engineers Los Angeles Younger Member Forum (ASCE LA YMF), with the support of several Council Districts in the past, have held Engineers Week in person. In 2021, we hosted our first ever fully virtual Engineers Week 2021 with over 700 students participating. We had guest speakers that were NASA Engineers, Astronauts in Training, Civil Engineers, and past Girl Scout who grew up to become an Engineer! Students participated in hands on activities such as Obleek making, Paper Towers, and Air Powered Cars. As we navigate through the pandemic, we plan to adhere to CDC and Los Angeles County guidelines and work with schools, sponsors, and volunteers to facilitate a great Engineers Week 2022 from February 22-26, 2022!

This unique event features five days in the Los Angeles area dedicated to introducing students of all levels to local branches of government and various fields of engineering. Our goal is to educate students about how their own communities were built upon and created, and inspire them with future possibilities of helping to positively change their built environment!

Inspire

"...global leadears building a better quality of life."

ASCE LA YMF strives to inspire a diverse group of students to become leaders in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) in order to build a better future!

Engineers Week creates a platform of fun, engaging activities and interesting engineering presentation topics that are able to spark the confidence and imagination of K-12 grade students. STEM is more than books, it's doing! Seeing what you're able to accomplish through design, research, and hard work in order to make a difference in society for the better! No success is ever complete without a failure, and students are able to work through problems in order to better learn how to achieve their solutions! During Engineers Week, there are NO losers, because you can't lose at having fun!

Engineers Week 2022 needs your support!

Engineers Week is focused on inspiring future generations of engineers and providing opportunities for K-12 students to learn about science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) in an engaging, and most importantly, fun environment through presentations given by professional engineers, hands-on engineering activities, volunteers that are in STEM related fields to serve as guides and mentors for the students during the events. By providing memorable events such as this, we can more easily gain the interest of a diverse group of students and inspire them to pursue STEM careers!

Engineers Week Consists of:

Elementary School Day (3rd grade) will be held TBD on Tuesday, 2/22/22

Middle School Day (7th-8th grade) will be held semi-virtually on Wednesday, 2/23/22
High School Day (9th-12th grade) will be held semi-virtually on Thursday, 2/24/2022

Girl Day (7th-12th grade) will be held semi-virtually on Friday, 2/25/2022
