LA YMF invities everyone to to attend our next monthly Board Meeting on Tuesday, December 11th, 6:30 PM. YMF's Board Meetings are the second Tuesday of every month at the City of Los Angeles, Department of Public Works building (1149 S. Broadway, Los Angeles, CA 90015) in downtown Los Angeles in the 7th floor conference room.

Engineers Without Borders (EWB) invites everyone to our first EWB's Fundraising Social at Far Bar in Little Tokyo (347 E. 1st Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012). Far Bar has generously agreed to donate a percentage of their drink and food sales to the EWB organization. Grab your friends and colleagues to come out and have some fun while also helping us raise funds for our projects in the village of Ipalamwa, Tanzania. Everyone is invited so be sure to come thirsty and hungry because it’ll be a lot of fun!

The US High Speed Rail Association is looking for volunteers for their upcoming High Speed Rail Conference in Los Angeles, CA Dec 3-4, 2012 at the MTA Building (One Gateway Plaza, Los Angeles, CA 90012). This will be a great way for you to watch presentations from industry and political leaders and to network as well.

Volunteers will be assigned to various duties at the registration desk and in the presentation rooms. Volunteers can attend the networking receptions and may be asked for simple tasks by staff there if needed. Please wear business attire that is preferably black.

Don't miss out on the next LA YMF Holiday Networking Event and Toy Drive at The Edison (108 West 2nd Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012) in Downtown Los Angeles! This annual holiday event will be an evening of casual networking and fun activities with our fantastic YMF and local civil engineering community.

Join ASCE LA YMF on Friday, December 7th, 12:30PM - 2:30PM, in teaching the third graders of Clover Elementary School about the history of Los Angeles and how many different disciplines in civil engineering work together to build cities! Volunteers will assist groups of 5-6 students in building cities made of gumdrops and toothpicks. All are welcome and no prior knowledge or experience is required to volunteer! The event will be held at Clover Avenue Elementary School: 11020 Clover Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90034.

Join ASCE YMF LA in teaching West Adams High School students about exciting careers as Civil Engineers! We will follow up the presentation with a hands-on activity to challenge the students to innovate like the engineers of tomorrow. Each volunteer will assist a group of 4 students. All are welcome and no prior knowledge or experience is required to volunteer! The event will be held at West Adams High School: 1500 West Washington Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90007, Meet in Room N006. Parking is available in the underground lot beneath the school, which is accessible from West Washington Blvd, just east of South Vermont Avenue.

Enjoy a day trip to Temecula and sample wines from four different wineries. Award-winning wineries flourish in Temecula Valley, offering their delicious, locally made wines at affordable prices. We will meet in the morning at Irvine City Hall and travel by charter bus to the Temecula Valley and enjoy the afternoon relaxing with great people and wine.

Join San Bernardino-Riverside Younger Member Forum (SB/R YMF) for their General Meeting and Technical Tour at the Ontario City Hall (303 East B Street, Ontario, CA 91764). David Simpson and Kimberly Ruddins from the City of Ontario will give a presentation of the lessons learned while construction LEED and sustainable projects.

Join LA YMF for a fun night out with the LA Beer Hop! LA Beer Hop is the first brewery and craft beer tour in Los Angeles. Beer Hop's shuttle will pick guests up at Union station to start a brew tour, and will stop at Mohawk Bend, Tony's Darts Away, and Golden Road before returning guests to Union Station at the end of the night.
