The new fiscal year is finally here and MLAB YMF is eager to get the year started. As the 2009-2010 MLAB YMF President I am looking forward to serving our young professionals. Our board of directors is composed of six executive officers and over a dozen committee chairs. They have been working very hard in planning our up-coming year and I’m happy announce that we are all in for an amazing year.

With less than a month into our year, we’ve already had our first general meeting and our first university student and YMF mixer. Furthermore, the rest of our committee members have been diligently working in planning K-12 student outreach activities, community service events, our annual student night and job fair, and our annual popsicle stick bridge competition, just to name a few. With the type of events we are planning, we hope to give back to our communities, promote our profession, educate the public and plant the engineering seed in the minds of our future engineers.

I have had the privilege of working closely with all of the board members and have seen their dedication; leadership and professionalism help MLAB YMF reach its goals. I am confident that with the continual involvement of such board members and with the help of MLAB and LA Section our YMF team will not only do its best to meet its goals this year, but also set the bar higher.
